Prosperous Pet Business Podcast
Episode #104: Create a Solid Business Foundation
Even if you’ve had your pet business for years, there may be parts of your business that are not quite solid. When solidity is created in the areas of business that require it, there’s so much more that’s possible in your business (and in your personal life).
Today’s coaching client is Maryann Berry, a new pet sitter and dog walker who lives in San Diego. She is very excited to launch her new business and just got her first client. Maryann wants to set up her business the right way, so today I’m helping her do that.
Regardless of whether you’ve been in business for many years or are just getting started, you’ll likely get something of substance out of this episode as we cover a wide range of topics within this podcast coaching session.

Paws Walks Dog Walking & Pet Sitting
San Diego, California
Hello Kristin,
“I did the research Kristin recommended and created a spreadsheet with the rates of more than 10 other local dog walking and pet sitting companies. I found this very useful to see where I wanted to price myself. I was able to see that I had priced myself too high initially! This spreadsheet ended up serving multiple purposes because it is helping me to get ideas on how I want to structure my services as well.
I’ve adjusted my hours at my part time job to make myself available for dog walking and pet sitting clients. I calculated my estimated expenses and income for my first six months and set goals in my calendar for the income (both gross and net) that I am aiming to generate by specified dates: September 1st and January 1st.
My first client is now a repeat client, and I am getting ready to start taking on more business generating activities!
Since the podcast recording, I’ve chosen a business name, “Paws Walks Dog Walking And Pet Sitting”. The business is named after a cat that I used to have named Paws. I’m located in San Diego, CA.
Thank you, Kristin!”
